Andre, has this been an important story in your region?
Peculiar to note that this appeared nearly a week ago in several news
outlets in UK, a few in Canada, CNN International, Pravda -- even one in
Madagascar... but neither Nexcerpt nor Google News have yet to find a
mention of the story anywhere in US national or regional media.

A campaigner who has dedicated his life to fighting the
destruction of the Brazilian environment is in a critical
condition after setting fire to himself in protest at the
construction of alcohol factories in the Pantanal marsh region.
Francisco Anselmo de Barros, 65, suffered 100% burns after
wrapping himself in a burning duvet during a demonstration on
Saturday in the centre of Campo Grande, the capital of Mato
Grosso do Sul...
"Who knows if this isn't the only way to stop this?" he
reportedly wrote in a series of notes left behind. "The
boat is sinking."
...subsequent reports say Anselmo died not long after:
In a letter left to his family and friends, Barros wrote that he
"did what he did as the only way to wake the people up" to the
environmental threat
Hmmm... when a terrorist blows himself up out of frustration with the
system -- having been taught to do so at bombing boot camp -- it's front
page news across the US.
When an environmentalist _burns_ himself up out of frustration with the
system -- after spending decades advocating alternatives... well, not so
newsworthy, apparently.

It's not that the Kansas School Board is full of idiots.
It's just that idiots outnumber the rest by six to four.
