Playlists
Pick of the dayA friend of a friend used to keep a list he called "song of the day," which I thought was a cool idea. Here's my compilation:
6/04/03: I Am by the Moving Units. "...frantic post-punk full of jagged edges and skeletal rhythms."
5/30/03: The Girl on Top (of the piano) by Spiraling. Epic pop that makes your head bounce.
5/28/03: Interloper by Earlimart. Dreamy, moody indie rock.
5/24/03: Emerge by Fischerspooner. Angst-ridden synthpop song.
5/23/03: Get a Move on by Mr. Scruff. Swing-inspired downtempo/breakbeat.
2/11/00: Face Like a Horse by 20 Minute Loop
2/10/00: Tell Me Now by Headboard
1/30/00: How is This Going to End? by Bitter Fall
1/22/00: Cucko by Glitter Mini 9
1/17/00: Decay by DNA Le Draw D Kee (Edward Ka-Spel from Legendary Pink Dots and Elke Skelter)
1/10/00: Darkwave playlist, which is an edited version of the fabulous Funeral Party I & II on mp3.com (I combined I & II into a single playlist, and deleted all the laibach-type bands and other screechiness so it's all quite mellow-mostly.)
1/8/00: Those Wicked Things by Fromunda. If you like Perl Jam, you'll probably like this song. Mostly hard rock with some metal guitar thrown in.
1/7/00: Fear (Lunasol Remix) - Sarah McLachlan
1/5/00: Throw Aggi Off the Bridge by Black Tambourine
1/4/00: New playlist
Song pick: The Album Leaf-We Once Were (Two)
1/3/00: Sensurround by Slipstream
12/19/00: I forgot that I liked Depeche Mode. The World is Ours by Cause and Effect
12/17/00: Today, I'm working from home because I'm behind on a project. Blah! But I'm also listening to synthpop. Check out Jane by Nukleon.
12/14/00: Check out Joint by Firing Bullets
12/13/00: Godforsaken by A Small Good Thing is a nifty ambient tune with little western bits.
12/12/00: I've been dying to get my hands on other groups that make music in the same genre as Amon Tobin. I guess it's called Drill n Bass. Anyway, this song "Sun on 5 at 152 by Matmos has a similar feel.
Arg. So I need to put anther band up today. Check out anything by Chessie.
12/11/00: I have discovered the Epitonic website, and it's rad. Today's track is the mellow Both Ends Fixed by Pan-American. I almost don't like it because of the reggae beat during parts of the song. But it really is perfect for today's high-strung workday. In fact, I'm not even high-strung anymore. Yay!
12/10/00: Went to the Bottom of the Hill for BBQ and bands. Enjoyed Starlight Mints. A reviewer mentioned the Elephant 6 recording artists in conjunction with this band's sound. And so another passel of albums appears for me to buy.
12/6/00: I've heard a number of tracks from BGH, and I *still* can't figure out quite what they're all about. I absolutely hate some of their songs. But Pissed Off is a quirky and funky electronica track that I liked.
Last year: Awhile back my friend JonnyP was in an LA band called Lonesome George. They had a really rocking track called What I found. But the band dissolved. Alas! Jonny is back in New Haven forging new connections and will hopefully have some new stuff out soon with his new bands.
